Programme

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 7-12 September 2014

Scientific programme

The focus of ESOMM-2014, similar to previous ESOMM meetings, is to link science to policy. By inviting the most relevant stakeholders (regulators, scientists, industry, governments, etc.) we hope to facilitate and reinforce this interaction. Originating as a NATO meeting, the main focal point for ESOMM will be the environmental effects of sonar sound; but over the years more sound sources have given rise to similar discussions and challenges, and we would like to encourage exchange of knowledge between different communities. The ESOMM meeting provides a platform to communicate recent scientific results and challenges in combination with addressing the needs from policy and regulator perspectives.

Draft schedule of ESOMM-2014

We are aiming to facilitate the start of registration Sunday 7 September. A combined and informal “get together” that evening is presently considered. After the official opening on Monday 8 September by Rear Admiral Rob Bauer, Director for Plans, NL-MOD, we continue the first day with the focus on linking all involved stakeholders. First paper of the meeting will be presented by prof. Walter Munk. The next days this will be followed by a series of thematic plenary sessions. A full list of session topics can be found on the website (see below). The plenary sessions will be concluded on Thursday afternoon. Friday 12 September is scheduled for dedicated project meetings/workshops in The Hague. Transportation from Amsterdam to The Hague on Thursday will be arranged.

Penultimate Programme now available here. All abstracts can be downloaded here. Note that both programme and abstract book will be provided in printed version upon arrival at the meeting.

Conference proceedings

We will make an abstract book available for participants to ESOMM-2014. Our aim is to have that posted on the website one week before the meeting. After the meeting we will distribute all presentations to participants. We are in touch with Aquatic Mammals Journal to organize a (peer-reviewed) special issue for ESOMM-2014. Details can be found in this document.
